How a Drug Can Ruin a Rapper

On the brink of potentially releasing a new album, Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. might also be in trouble with drugs. While there hasn’t been a huge news report about the rapper – also known as Lil’ Wayne – has been hospitalized from drug use. His drug of choice is called lean, and it’s a codeine cough syrup (also known as lean) that is mixed with stuff like fruit drinks or some sodas. The rapper has spoken openly about his addiction and has even gone through many hospital stays because of the drug.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, the rapper was raised in poor conditions. He has spoken openly about a parent not being present in his household. He’s also referenced the fact that he grew up with drugs around him. According to The Boom Box, Lil’ Wayne used crack cocaine as early as 11 years old. He was also smoking marijuana and participating in sexual activities this early in life. Unfortunately, this has led to rampant drug use later in his life.

Lil’ Wayne’s addiction to codeine has put him in a lot of trouble. He has faced multiple trials for drug use. He’s even been convicted in several of these crimes. The worst side effect of his lean addiction is his health. Lil’ Wayne has been taken to the hospital several times due to seizures with the most recent being in 2016. While Lil’ Wayne actually has seizures and it’s reported that he didn’t take his medicine. It’s likely that there was lean involved, at least according to NY Daily News.

This lean addiction is something that Lil’ Wayne has suffered for quite awhile. It’s nothing new in the rapper’s life. He’s publicly come clean about his lean addiction several times, including a candid interview with Katie Couric. He claimed that when he quit using lean, he suffered more seizures. This addiction has led to to Lil’ Wayne facing a lot of consequences in his life. But that’s the unfortunate outcome of being raised around drugs. Luckily, there is help for people who want help.
