Hydrocodone/Norco Addiction and Treatment

Chapters Capistrano is the leader for Hydrocodone addiction recovery. Because each case of Hydrocodone dependence is unique, the addiction experts at Chapters personalize treatment programs for clients. We are committed to guiding our clients through a successful recovery to live drug free.

General Information

A synthetic opioid derived from two naturally-occurring opiates—codeine and thebaine—, Hydrocodone is typically combined with other non-opioid compounds such as acetaminophen, known as Norco.  Using Hydrocodone and Norco can cause psychological and physical dependence.

Strong central nervous system depressants, Hydrocodone and Norco are meant to relieve mild to acute pain. When prescribed and monitored by a doctor, the drugs are effective and safe, and help alleviate pain for 3-4 hours. However, when used without supervision for prolonged periods of time at increased amounts, serious health risks can occur.

Effects of Hydrocodone/Norco Abuse

Physical and mental health side effects of using Hydrocodone and Norco unsupervised include drowsiness, dizziness, itching, lightheadedness, nausea, sweating, and vomiting. An abuser will develop a tolerance and dependence upon Hydrocodone/Norco, and usually have to increase drug intake to get the desired effect. Risks, which can be fatal, include mixing the drug with alcohol, cocaine, benzodiazepines, or other medications. Adverse reactions, all of which can be fatal, include, but are not limited to, heart failure, heart attack, liver or kidney failure, and respiratory distress.

Hydrocodone/Norco Detoxification Doesn’t Have To Be Painful

At Chapters, we recognize that many addicts avoid rehabilitation because they fear Hydrocodone withdrawal. Though withdrawal can be uncomfortable, it doesn’t have to be! Through the Hydrocodone rehab program at Chapters, we use a drug-specific detox that makes withdrawal safest. Under medical supervision, clients are given mild prescription medication in tapering amounts to lessen the risk of seizure and ease withdrawal symptoms until the body is physically stabilized.

The drug and alcohol rehab center at Chapters Capistrano knows the challenges of Hydrocodone addiction. We are here to help you beat Hydrocodone dependency and attain a sober lifestyle. Call our 24-hour helpline at 949-371-4198 today for more information about our personalized Hydrocodone rehab programs.
